How to Make Them Smile

make someone smileEvery year, during the week of July 19th through July 25th, florists across the country take part in “Make Someone Smile® Week. The event, which is in its 16th year this year, focuses on bringing some cheer and happiness to those who need it most. It’s a chance for the community to rally around people who are hospitalized, homebound, in nursing homes or assisted living families, and even to support children who are in the foster care system. You don’t have to know someone to participate. The goal is to encourage people to be good Samaritans to others, and to show them that there are people who care enough to want to make them smile.

We’re excited to be part of this endeavor and hope that you will help us by spreading the joy of a smile throughout the Wilmington area. We’ve selected some flower arrangements that we think are representative of the sort of things that are sure to make anyone smile.

Daisy Days

We’re convinced that our Daisy Days arrangement is the epitome of a smile in a vase. Our clear glass vase sets the stage for this cheery bouquet that consists of plenty of daisies, yellow spray roses, and Solidago. The combination of the smiling white and yellow daisies and the summery yellow roses is positively delightful. We know that anyone who receives it will be surprised, excited, and deeply touched at your thoughtfulness with this generous gift of good cheer.

Summer Breeze is a whimsically fun gathering vase that is filled with hydrangea, orange and pink roses, and yellow sunflowers. We also add some pincushion mums, lilies, and other seasonal flowers. This lush arrangement looks like it is made up of flowers you thoughtfully picked from your garden, hoping to make someone smile and cheer him or her up for a day.

Sunshine Squared

Summer is all about the sunshine, brightly colored flowers, and happiness. We like to think that our SunshineSquared is like a burst of sunshine in a vase. Our vase is a five-inch cube, which is the perfect size for a hospital room or a nursing home room.

We don’t believe that you should restrict yourself to any particular flower color when you’re trying to put a smile on someone’s face with the gift of flowers. We tried to come up with a variety of different summer arrangements that are ideally suited to the purpose of this national charity event. Julia’s Flowers is thrilled to be part of this, and we’re anxious to help you choose the perfect arrangement to Make Someone Smile® during this delightful summer campaign.
