To commemorate Women’s History Month, Wilmington’s best florist, Julia’s, listed some of the favorite ladies from history and today to uncover their favorite flower and if it matches their personality. You’ll be surprised by how much it does.

It is not that surprising someone who’s graceful, beautiful, and mysterious with an exotic look like Angelina Jolie would favor the exotic orchid. Prized the world over because of its unique design and mystique, orchids symbolize strength, beauty, and luxury.


Anne Hathaway – Anemones

A beautiful and talented actress, Anne Hathaway’s favorite flower is the bright and beautiful anemone. A delicate wildflower that blooms in a wide array of colors, the anemone is also loved by florists and gardeners alike. There are various meanings associated with the anemone flower, too – like peace and purity for white ones, forsaken love for red ones and pink, and protection from evil spirits for purple ones.

It does not surprise her favorite flower is the charming and delicate Lily of the Valley. Also known as the “May Lily,” this delicate yet regal bloom symbolizes happiness and good fortune. A fragrant flowering plant, Lily of the Valley, is often used in religious and celebratory ceremonies. Audrey used the Lily of the Valley flowers in her wedding bouquet.
