Folk Art Reinvented: 2018’s Fun Floral Trend

Planning on making a few design resolutions for the new year? Looking for a fun floral trend to try?

Look no further: International Floral Distributors has released its annual trend forecast, and the four approaches presented are equally exciting. We’re talking about one in particular today, which we here at Julia’s Florist love for its fun-loving vibe and artistic spirit.

IFD is calling it “Folk Art Reinvented,” and we couldn’t agree more. This style is upbeat and fresh, blending the free-form wildflower look so popular these past couple of years with the new trend toward bright, bold blooms (say goodbye to those muted hues of 2017). It’s hippie-meets-country chic, embodying an artistic, expressive mood and adding a little polish to it. You’ll see what we mean in our Bright & Stunning bouquet.

This is free-spirited happiness in a simple glass cube – another important feature of this modern look. The Pop Art colors and different shapes and textures celebrate uniqueness and independence. IFD showcases flowers in individual bud vases clustered together, too, indicating that this trend has a lot of flexibility. It’s a great look for a gift, as a design element for an event or just as a centerpiece for a spring or summer table. It can be formal or informal depending on how many blooms you build in. It’s the kind of trend anyone can get behind.
