Sending Green Flowers on St. Patrick’s Day

It’s Saint Patrick’s Day, and time to celebrate all things green! There are over 36 million people who can claim Irish descent, but whether you are Irish or not, everyone is allowed to claim the nationality for one day. On March 17th, it is a tradition for everyone to participate in the “wearing o’ the green”  – in fact, it is even acceptable to give a playful pinch to those who refuse to wear the iconic shade on this festive holiday. While some people go with a simple green outfit, others go all out and try to outdo each other at parties and festivities.

If you would like to send a little green spirit to your Celtic friends and family on St. Patrick’s Day, you’ll need to look no further than Julia’s Florist in Wilmington. Our floral designers are ready to create whimsical arrangements that will commemorate the Emerald Isle beautifully.

Although St. Patrick’s Day is officially a Roman Catholic feast day, it has taken on an almost “Mardi Gras feel” in some places. Parades and floats, outrageous costumes, pet contests, pub-crawls and Irish festivals are commonplace on this day – as is drinking green beer, eating corned beef and cabbage, and listening to traditional Irish music.

If you are looking for a lively way to decorate for the St. Patrick’s Day party there are several uniquely beautiful green flowers that will make amazing floral designs. Green orchids, Fuji mums, and hydrangea are all popular choices, as are carnations and the aptly-named Bells of Ireland. Add green beads and shamrock decorative elements to make it truly Irish. green flowersAlthough the man behind all the celebration wasn’t even Irish – he was British – St. Patrick’s love of the verdant green country made him a beloved honorary Irishman. On March 17th, you can show your appreciation for all things Irish as well, and it can start with sending gorgeous green flowers from Julia’s Florist.
