One of the most exciting parts about Thanksgiving - at least to us here at Julia's Florist - is what goes on the dining table. No, we don't mean food, though the feast itself certainly gets top billing at our house. It's the flowers, and specifically, the centerpiece. What you put in the middle of your table is meant to capture the spirit of your Thanksgiving, whether you're hosting an informal potluck where everybody brings their signature dish or a more formal affair. Veterans Day is just around the corner, and here in Wilmington, we're preparing a bevy of tributes, from parades to observances to personal celebrations in our homes. Our community is rich with heroes, those who served in the U.S. military and spent much of their lives protecting and defending our country. Celebrating Wilmington’s Best Bosses

In 1958, a Chicago-based State Farm Insurance employee named Patricia Bays Haroski came up with the idea of National Boss's Day. The observance was meant to enhance and improve the relationships between employers and their employees. It took 4 years for the day to become official, the declaration signed by Illinois Governor Lott Kerner in 1962.
